What is White-Nose Syndrome Disease, also known as WNS?
White nose syndrome is a disease consisting of fungal growth on the muzzles and wings of bats, most commonly during hybernation. WNS disrupts bats during the vital hybernation time, waking them prematurely, forcing them to search for food and ultimently die of starvation and exertion.
